Observation
When I took ECI 520 class, some of my classmates are in-service teachers, they mentioned that students faced many challenges when they are writing. Sometimes students did not know how to start writing on the topic, when they were writing, they could not use appropriate sentences, words. When correcting compositions, you would find that students continue to make mistakes they made before. So choosing the topics that students are interested in, emphasizing the process of writing are of great importance to the writing of students. Just as the Pritchard & Honeycutt (2005) said: “writing process are best understood as complex phenomena that include not only procedural strategies for going through the writing process to generate text but also a multitude of other strategies to develop specific schemata ”(P285). Like this, not only are students’ works improved, but their comprehensive ability is also improved in the writing process.Only when they realize their problems in the process of writing will they correct. Consider allowing students to write compositions collaboratively in class, especially when writing long texts is new to them.This not only inspire their writing enthusiasm, but also allow them to learn to treat problem from different perspectives in the case of cooperation. Definitely this also requires teachers to play their own leadership to actively promote students in cooperate writing, to improve writing skills of students with reasonable use of resources.
